My Story

Nothing special here….

I've lived in downtown SLC for quite some time now with my wife.

I live on a block that is mixed residential and commercial property.

I've endured Leaf Blowers that start at 3am, Waste Haulers that pickup as early as 4am , and Commercial Snow Removal that begins next door at 1:30 and continues for 2 hours.

Most of the time, the commercial neighbors simply weren't aware that the noise was a problem, or that they were breaking the law. For the most part, these neighbors needed little more than notification and they quickly made changes that improved the situation.

But there are other neighbors that have told me directly, that they have NO intention of obeying the law, and they will continue to act as they choose. (These neighbors will take a little more work).

The proposed changes to the noise ordinance should remove some of the ambiguity that exists in the current law, as well as making improvements that I think all residents will enjoy.

Please look through the law and consider attending the council meeting and/or emailing with your support of the new noise ordinances.

I've been told by the department of health that the people that tend to show up at these meetings are people unhappy with the changes (like possibly our commercial neighbors). Since these new changes would benefit residents of downtown, it's in our best interest to make ourselves heard, and to fill seats at the meeting.
